Styrian Gold Pumpkin Seed Protein Powder / Flour

(CERTIFIED ORGANIC)

Plant Based Protein At It's Finest

In Styria, Austria they have been cultivating Styrian Pumpkin Seeds to press out the oil for generations. However, what’s left over (the rest of the seed) has some unique properties that up until very recently have been unexplored. For starters it contains high quality, vegan protein…9.5 grams of protein in 15 grams of powder or approx. 1 tablespoon. That’s a whopping 67% by volume. Having a complete chain of amino acids as well as an impressive list of important minerals like iron, zinc and magnesium make this powder a superior choice for health enthusiasts of all types.

How It Is Made

After the raw seeds have been mechanically crushed and ground up, they are loaded into a large cauldron together with a splash of clean spring water and a dash of high quality mountain salt.
Salt is added to separate the protein from the fat in order to facilitate the oil extraction process – the salt stays with the protein after extraction process which shows up in the ingredients list. (about 1/2 teaspoon of salt in the 500 gram pouch)…CLICK HERE to see the pouch.
The pumpkin seed mash is then mixed and slowly warmed up to a maximum of 80 degrees Celsius. (176 degrees Fahrenheit.)
When the Press Master says it is ready for pressing (this comes from many years of experience and artisanal know-how) the warm mash is hand scooped into a large pressing cylinder…one scoop, then one steel plate with holes in it, then another scoop, then another plate and so on until the cylinder is full.
The full cylinder is slid into the press and slowly pressed by hydraulic pressure about 300 bar or 4,350 psi until the oil pours out the bottom. To learn more about the Oil CLICK HERE. Once this process if finished the cylinder is removed and the PRESS CAKE (see photo on the right) is pushed out and the steel plates recovered, cleaned and stored for reuse in the next pressing batch.
These press cake disks are the raw material for the Organic Protein Powder.
The disks are broken up by hand and cold milled it into a fine powder….100 % pure, 100 % natural, nothing added (except for the salt and water during oil extraction), nothing taken away.
